Even in 4-3 OT Loss, Exhibition Serves Its Purpose

In a battle between two Spartan goalies, one current and one future, the U.S. National Team Development Program made another visit to Munn Ice Arena to face off against the Michigan State Spartans in an exhibition match-up.

Edwin Minney, who has signed his National Letter of Intent in favor of the Spartans, started for the USANTDP and matched up in net against MSU sophomore Jake Hildebrand.

Wolverines Edge Spartans at Joe Louis Arena, 2-1

After an unexpected visit at the Great Lakes Invitational, Michigan State and Michigan butted heads once again in there annual showdown at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit Thursday evening.

Two games, two neutral arenas, and now, two different winners. After being shutout by the Spartans in the consolation game at the GLI, the Michigan Wolverines evened the series with the Spartans.

Defense Leads to Offense as Spartans Down Princeton

Spartan Hockey defeated the Princeton Tigers Friday night in a 4-1 rout.

In what coach Tom Anastos called perhaps the most physical game his team has played in thus far, the Spartans  prevailed, with two key players scoring their first goals of the year.  Left wing Ryan Keller potted his first on a backhand pass from captain Greg Wolfe at 17:30 in the second, and a point shot by defenseman Jake Chelios found the back of the net at 4:26 of the third period.
