Opinion: State of the Pistons

While their history may be legendary, the past few years for the Detroit Pistons’ basketball organization have been the complete opposite.

The Pistons have not made the playoffs since 2009 and these past four years have been brutal on the organization. They have finished No. 12 (2010), No. 11 (2011), No. 10 (2012) and No. 11 (2013) in the Eastern Conference over the past four years and just have not been able to pull themselves out of their slump. Andre’s All-Star Resume

The NBA All-Star Game is less then a month away.  On February 16, the best players in the league will take their talents to New Orleans, La., to showcase them. The last Piston to play in the all-star game was Allen Iverson in 2009. Is this the year that drought ends?  Andre Drummond sure hopes so.

Drummond has been Detroit’s best player this season and is one of the best up-and-coming big men in the league.  This season, Drummond is averaging 12.7 points per game, 12.6 rebounds per game and almost two blocks per game.

Detroit looked to extend their winning streak to three games Friday night, when they hosted the Utah Jazz.

Opinion: Pistons Need to Shake Things Up

After a MLK Day drubbing by the Los Angeles Clippers, the Detroit Pistons found themselves with a record of 17-24. At this time last year, an “inferior” Pistons squad was 16-25. The addition of superstars does not guarantee success, I suppose. Detroit must do something to break out of their funk and take advantage of a weak Eastern Conference, and it starts with the starting lineup.

Drummond Does Work

This season for the Detroit Pistons has, in many ways, followed the same course as every other playoff-less season at The Palace.

The team currently has a 17-23 record, which earns them seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Considering the fact that the East has four teams with losing records that are currently in playoff contention, these numbers will get them in.

Is that really what the Pistons are about? Read More…

Bright Spots in a Bleak Season

What was once considered a slow start is now turning into a disappointing season for the Detroit Pistons.

As owners of a 14-22 record and a six-game losing streak after their loss to the Raptors Wednesday, underachieving might be an understatement. There have been a rash of injuries and a few benchings along the way, but the season is still young. Luckily for Pistons fans, there are a few bright spots for coach Cheeks’ squad. Read More…

Opinion: Rodney Stuckey for Jeremy Lamb a Match Made in Heaven

What do Richard Hamilton, Andre Drummond, Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva and Jeremy Lamb have in common?  If you guessed that they all played for the University of Connecticut then you would be absolutely right. Would it not be nice if all of them at one point or another played for the Pistons?  Well, it may not be that far-fetched to think it could happen sooner rather than later.   Read More…
