Throughout the last few years, the Charlotte Bobcats have easily been one of the most disappointing teams in the NBA. With Michael Jordan working in the front office, one would think that the team would do better.
While Charlotte has had flurries of hope over the last five years, including a playoff appearance in the 2009-10 season, the following seasons at or near the bottom of the East is not the turnaround the franchise hoped for.
The NBA trade deadline is less than 24 hours away and two trades have already been completed.
Will the Pistons sit tight and watch other teams make moves or will General Manager Joe Dumars make some news of his own?

Wednesday night, the Detroit Pistons finished their two-game Florida road trip against the Orlando Magic.
The Magic had no trouble scoring against the Pistons’ defense, scoring more than 30 points in the second and third quarters. It was another lackluster performance from the Pistons as they lost 112-98.
Well, that did not take long.
Sunday afternoon, just a few hours after defeating the Denver Nuggets 126-109, the Detroit Pistons fired head coach Maurice Cheeks. The story was first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
With just two weeks until the All-Star break, the Pistons find themselves a half game out of the playoffs in an embarrassingly weak Eastern Conference. With the trade deadline rapidly approaching, Joe Dumars will almost certainly make a move that could make or break the season.
Jeff Green was a standout at Georgetown before being drafted No. 5 overall in 2007 by the Boston Celtics. He was traded to Seattle on draft night and spent three years with the SuperSonics and the Thunder. Green was traded back to the Celtics in 2011 at the trade deadline, but missed the entire 2011-2012 season with a heart complication
After being absent from the playoffs for nearly four consecutive seasons, the Detroit Pistons finally have a chance of returning to the NBA postseason. As the all-star break approaches, the team vies with the Charlotte Bobcats and New York Knicks for that coveted eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. A playoff berth would provide a second wind to the teams’ tiring fan base.
To whom do the Pistons owe this honor? Perhaps to Josh Smith, the new addition to the team, or perhaps not.
The Detroit Pistons looked to end their four-game losing streak Tuesday night when they hosted the Orlando Magic.
Detroit completely outplayed the Magic, outscoring them by 12 points in the second quarter and eight points in the third.

Wednesday night, the Pistons traveled to Wisconsin to challenge the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks came into the game with the worst record in the NBA at 8-32.
The Pistons led by six points at halftime, but could never break away. Detroit’s second half struggles continued and the Pistons lost the game, 104-101.
While their history may be legendary, the past few years for the Detroit Pistons’ basketball organization have been the complete opposite.
The Pistons have not made the playoffs since 2009 and these past four years have been brutal on the organization. The NBA All-Star Game is less then a month away. On February 16, the best players in the league will take their talents to New Orleans, La., to showcase them. The last Piston to play in the all-star game was Allen Iverson in 2009. Is this the year that drought ends? Andre Drummond sure hopes so.
Drummond has been Detroit’s best player this season and is one of the best up-and-coming big men in the league. This season, Drummond is averaging 12.7 points per game, 12.6 rebounds per game and almost two blocks per game.
Detroit looked to extend their winning streak to three games Friday night, when they hosted the Utah Jazz.
The underwhelming Jazz have struggled this season, but a terrific performance by rookie Trey Burke helped them end the Pistons’ streak. Burke led all Jazz players with 20 points and added 12 assists in their 110-89 victory over Detroit.
After a MLK Day drubbing by the Los Angeles Clippers, the Detroit Pistons found themselves with a record of 17-24. At this time last year, an “inferior” Pistons squad was 16-25. The addition of superstars does not guarantee success, I suppose. Detroit must do something to break out of their funk and take advantage of a weak Eastern Conference, and it starts with the starting lineup.
This season for the Detroit Pistons has, in many ways, followed the same course as every other playoff-less season at The Palace.
The team currently has a 17-23 record, which earns them seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Considering the fact that the East has four teams with losing records that are currently in playoff contention, these numbers will get them in.

The Detroit Pistons had a busy week, facing off against the Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic.
Detroit hosted the Rockets on Saturday, where the matchup to watch was Andre Drummond against Dwight Howard. Early on, it was clear who was the better player, as Howard put up 14 points in the first quarter and forced Drummond out of the game.
