The Michigan State men’s tennis team lost their last away game of the season 5-2 to Minnesota, bringing their road record to 1-11.

The Spartans (9-13, 3-6) split their weekend series against Minnesota and Wisconsin. Michigan State will close the regular season portion of their schedule this upcoming weekend.

The Michigan State men’s tennis team defeated No. 74 Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. on Friday, snapping their two-game losing streak.

Michigan State (9-12, 3-5) swept the doubles matches, which usually is a good sign for the Spartans. MSU has a 9-1 record when they win the doubles point.

Wildcats Send Spartans Packing

The Michigan State men’s tennis team is on a two-game Big Ten losing streak after losing to No. 37 Northwestern, 6-1 Sunday afternoon.

The Wildcats took two of the three doubles matches against the No. 73 Spartans (8-12, 2-5). Gijs Linders/Harry Jadun defeated Northwestern’s Sam Shropshire/Konrad Zieba, giving Michigan State the win on court two.

Spartans Crush Hawkeyes

The Michigan State men’s tennis team completed the weekend Big Ten sweep after beating Iowa on Sunday afternoon, 5-2.

The Spartans (8-10, 2-3) are on a two-game win streak, both of which came against ranked teams (No. 71 Iowa and No. 58 Nebraska).

No. 2 Buckeyes a Little Too Much for Spartans

Despite a strong effort by Michigan State (6-10, 0-3), the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes (19-2, 3-0) defeated the Spartans 5-2 Sunday. The loss was the Spartans first loss at home this season.

The Buckeyes extended their Big Ten regular season match win streak to 86-consecutive matches.

Michigan State (5-5) travels to Ann Arbor, Mich. Friday night to take on the Michigan Wolverines (5-4).

“It’s special (playing against Michigan),” head coach Gene Orlando said. “They bring out a certain level of focus in our guys.”
