Dantonio Addresses Fourth Quarter Struggles

Fourth quarter woes have kept Michigan State’s perfect start to the Big Ten season seeming imperfect.

The Spartans stayed at the No. 8 spot in the AP Top 25 poll after a 45-38 win at Purdue last Saturday, in a game that was a lot closer than expected. No. 8 Michigan State Avoids Fourth Quarter Collapse at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Exactly one week after a chaotic near collapse in East Lansing versus Nebraska, Michigan State avoided a shocking upset at the hands of Purdue.

Against Nebraska, it took an interception by Trae Waynes in the Cornhuskers’ final drive to seal the deal for MSU. A late interception, this time by Darien Harris, sealed the deal for MSU against Purdue. Harris returned the pick for six, making the final score 45-31 in favor of the Spartans. Read More…

Spartans Survive Scare at Ross-Ade Stadium

WEST LAFAYETTE – In what appeared to be a deja-vu of Michigan State’s near collapse against Nebraska, the MSU defense was forced to stop Purdue in the final minutes, holding on to a one-possession lead for dear life.

MSU Leads Purdue 24-17 at Halftime

WEST LAFAYETTE – Connor Cook has connected with six different receivers in the first half at Purdue, throwing for 179 yards and two touchdowns. The No. 8 Spartans lead the Boilermakers 24-17 at halftime. Spartans Dodge Bullet Against No. 19 Nebraska

No. 10 Michigan State had several chances to put this one away early.  They had more chances to put it away late.  After failing to put the nail in the coffin, No. 19 Nebraska nearly stole an upset victory in East Lansing.

With 5:47 to go in the fourth quarter, the Spartans sat comfortably on defense with a 27-9 lead. Quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. threw a pass and safety Kurtis Drummond jumped in the air to get his hands on it – he had a clear path to the end zone. Read More…

Spartans Continue New Rivalry with Nebraska Saturday

Michigan State is set to face Nebraska for the fourth time in four years tomorrow, and it will be Mark Dantonio’s fourth time facing Nebraska in his career.  Although it will only be their fourth meeting, Nebraska has quickly become a staple opponent for the Spartans in Big Ten play.

MSU Closes Non-Conferece Schedule with Big Win

Another explosive offensive performance by the Michigan State Spartans led to a 56-14 win in their homecoming game against Wyoming. The Spartans finished with 533 yards of total offense and zero turnovers in the convincing win.

Cowboys No Match for No. 9 Spartans

Michigan State moved to 3-0 at Spartan Stadium with their 56-14 homecoming victory over Wyoming.

Jeremy Langford had his first 100-yard rushing performance of the season, the ninth of his career, finishing with sixteen carries, 137 yards and one touchdown. Connor Cook completed eight of  12 passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns alongside one rushing touchdown of his own.

New Faces for Spartans Help Finish Out Blowout Against EMU

Sixty-three players played in the first half. Seven freshmen defenders played at one time.

The No. 11 ranked Spartans bounced back after their a bye week following loss in Eugene with a 73-14 dominating performance against Eastern Michigan. Connor Cook, who only attempted six passes, ended up with 83 yards and two touchdowns.  He also had a rushing touchdown of his own. Cook sat out the majority of the second quarter and the entire second half while MSU maintained a comfortable lead. Read More…
