Spartans to No. 16, Miami to No. 2 in newest CFP rankings

After a weekend of college football that saw no major upsets, the top of the College Football Playoff’s rankings remained unchanged. Last year’s finalists, Alabama and Clemson, retained their spots in the top four, at Nos. 1 and 3 respectively.

Miami (FL) jumped above their ACC rivals Clemson after winning a tight matchup against Virginia. Clemson’s win over FCS team The Citadel was one of many games played against lower competition by the top teams, including Alabama’s shutout of FCS team Mercer.

Michigan State moved to No. 16 in the poll after their Senior Day win over Maryland, and will play a final regular season game at 4 p.m. on FOX against 4-7 Rutgers.
