Spartans Take on Crimson in Third Round

Michigan State faces off against a familiar foe as they play Tommy Amaker’s Harvard Crimson Saturday night.

Amaker spent seven years at Michigan, but did not get the kind of results from Big Blue that he has from Harvard. The Crimson have won four straight Ivy League titles and upset a strong Cincinnati team to make it to the Round of 32.

The Spartans come off a dominant performance against Delaware in which Adreian Payne went nuts for 41 points. Payne’s performance and Travis Trice pouring in 19 helped MSU to a 93-78 victory.

Michigan State has relied on lockdown defense and transition points in their recent hot streak. Since the start of the Big Ten tournament, MSU has won three of their four games by 14 points or more.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8:40 p.m. EST or 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Connecticut-Villanova game.
