Secret Society Returns; Club Football Team to Hold Combine on April 11

Secret Society is back! After a semester away, Bradley Allen returns to his roots as he documents the founding of the club football team at Michigan State. Read on for a preview of the upcoming episode.

Last Wednesday, Michigan State held its pro day for many of the graduating seniors and NFL hopefuls.  The majority of the 80-some scholarship athletes on the Michigan State varsity football team will not play football professionally, but they do get to live the dream of continuing to play the game they love after high school.

In the fall of 2015, for the first time, Michigan State students will have the opportunity to continue to play competitive, full-contact football without having to earn a scholarship or walk-on to the varsity team.

Freshman criminal justice major Chris Wesolowski, with help from his friend and fellow Cardinal Mooney High School alum Matt Oxie have worked all year long to help start MSU club football. After searching for practice facilities, sponsors, a head coach, and securing a spot in a competitive college football league, Wesolowski sent a mass email to the entire undergraduate student body about the club football team. In February, an MSU club football information meeting was largely attended, followed shortly by a successful fundraiser at the Cosi in East Lansing. Next up for the club football team, which is looking to field a team of 50 to 60 players, is a scouting combine on April 11.
