Corner Kick – 2/3/14 – Pre-Signing Day Podcast: Kylie Stannard, Jay Chapman and Fatai Alashe Join In On a Recruiting Discussion

National Signing Day for men’s soccer is upon us. Wednesday, February 5th is the day high school seniors will put the pen to the paper and officially declare themselves Spartans.

Assistant coach Kylie Stannard reveals what the Michigan State soccer program looks for in a recruit, what his role as recruiter involves and how college soccer recruiting has changed over the past 20 years.

Sophomore midfielder Jay Chapman (Campbellford, Ontario) and junior midfielder/defender Fatai Alashe (Northville, Mich.) speak about their recruiting process and what drew them to East Lansing.

Also, we learn who Jay and Fatai model their game after, who their favorite professional soccer teams are and who would be their preferred wingman during a night out. Finally, they debate who the team jokester is, who’s definitely not the team jokester (Ryan Keener), who on the team has the best ball skills, who has the best style and who has the strangest pre-game ritual.
