Freshman Agee Shows Promise

Freshmen of on the Michigan State Women’s Basketball team have been showing their talent in the past two season games. Redshirted freshman Branndais Agee is no exception.

Gustavsson Shows Weakness, Injuries Destroy Wings in Loss

Continuing their slump against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night at Joe Louis Arena, losing by a score of five to two, the Detroit Red Wings have increased their losing streak to six straight. After Loss to Cowgirls, Spartans Look Ahead To Hoyas

The Spartans, coming off a 63-57 loss against Oklahoma State, are ready to take on Georgetown for the second time in team history in their last matchup of the 2013 Puerto Rico Classic.

Head coach Suzy Merchant is looking for more offensive play out of her team, but she is not dwelling on yesterday’s loss.

Spartans Travel to Puerto Rico, Take on 8-0 Cowgirls

Escaping the cold of Michigan, the Spartans play their first matchup of the 2013 Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan against No. 13 Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. today.

Coming off of an 80-62 win against Oakland University, the Spartans are hoping to break the 2-2 all-time series tie against the Cowgirls.

Lightning Strike Wings with Shutout

The Detroit Red Wings were shut out against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday, continuing a five game losing streak as of late. There was no goal scoring recorded in the first or second period, but in the third, the Lightning struck on three different occasions to bring the game to a close in a 20-minute period. Read More…

Spartans Defeat Grizzlies for Sixth Straight Time

Although they started off sluggish, the Michigan State Spartans rallied to defeat the Oakland Grizzlies on Sunday at the Breslin Center.

Freshman, Aerial Powers, led the Spartans with a double-double, 21 points and 11 rebounds, which was her third double-double in the last four games. Annalise Pickrel scored 20 points and tied her career high with five 3-pointers. Read More…

Pistons Recap: December 4-13

BMO Harris Bradley Center hosted the Pistons, on December 4, to take on the struggling Bucks. Detroit jumped out to a seven-point lead after the first quarter. Andre Drummond was a force early in the paint, scoring seven points and grabbing six boards to lead the Pistons.

But the Bucks charged back, opening the second quarter on a 19-5 run to take a 38-31 lead midway through the frame. Read More…

MSU Falls to No. 4 Ferris State, 2-0

After coming off a tough series last weekend against the top-ranked Golden Gophers, the Spartans were faced with one last test during finals week before heading home for break.

Saturday evening, Michigan State welcomed the No. 4 Ferris State Bulldogs to East Lansing and came up short, losing 2-0.

Injured, Rusty Spartans Survive Oakland

A short-handed Michigan State team narrowly edged Oakland University, 67-63, Saturday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

The Spartans were without Gary Harris due to an ankle injury, Matt Costello because of mononucleosis and Kenny Kaminski who is suspended indefinitely, due to academic issues. Read More…
