Win over Detroit Clinches Weekend Sweep for Men’s Tennis

The men kept the victory balls rolling, as they won their second match of the weekend against Detroit Mercy, 7-0, in a double-header on Saturday.

In doubles, Jasper Koenen and Doug Zade finished doubles first in quick work, 6-0.

Sophomore Mac Roy, who sat out doubles earlier in the day against Toledo due to sickness and fatigue, returned to doubles against Detroit.

Spartan doubles pairs of Roy and Michael Dube along with Brett Forman and Gijs Linders were tied against their opponents, 5-5, late in the first set.

Roy and Dube had some questionable fault calls late in the set, which ended up costing them the match, 7-5.

However, Linders and Forman finished their doubles match strong, winning 7-6, to clinch the doubles point overall for the Spartans.

MSU kept it rolling and swept all six singles matches against Detroit to win it 7-0 overall.

The Spartans next foes are Ball State and Eastern Illinois this Saturday.
