Lions’ Defense Too Much For Packers

The Detroit Lions bounced back from their Week 2 loss with a 19-7 win at home over the rival Green Bay Packers.

Ford Field was rocking when Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers’ electrifying offense was held to an uncharacteristic 223 total yards. The Lions’ defense continued their streak of holding opponents to less than 80 rushing yards per game. Second-year running back sensation Eddie Lacy  topped out at 11 carries for 36 yards, and his counterpart James Starks finished with eight rushing attempts for 38 yards. Read More…

Lions Offense Kept Quiet in Charlotte

The Detroit Lions flew into Charlotte, N.C., coming off of a collective win against the New York Giants Monday night, but the Panthers’ defense proved to be a tough matchup.

The dynamic Lions offense was held to an unimpressive seven points to Carolina’s 24 on Sunday.

Turnovers plagued the Lions all throughout the game. Detroit failed to establish a healthy rhythm due to an early Joique Bell fumble, and failed to rally a comeback due to a late Matt Stafford interception and Jeremy Ross fumble. Read More…

Wayne State Hosts Lions Training Camp for Public

On Wednesday, July 30 the Detroit Lions practiced away from their usual Allen Park practice facilities at Wayne State’s own Adams Field.

The Lions went through a routine practice showcasing position drills, individual drills, seven-on-sevens and situational scrimmages. This public practice allowed me to walk away with a few different impressions and topics of discussion heading into the Lions’ first preseason game August 9 against the Cleveland Browns. Read More…

Eric Ebron Goes to Lions with the 10th Pick in the 2014 NFL Draft

What Re-signing Rashean Mathis Means for the Lions’ Organization

The Detroit Lions re-signed veteran cornerback Rashean Mathis on Monday. Last year, Mathis led the Lions’ secondary not only in age, but also stats.

With Mathis coming back to the roster, and the Lions’ recent signing of former Indianapolis Colts corner Cassius Vaughn, the total number of defensive backs on the roster rises to seven. The Lions’ secondary is also equipped with two underrated safeties in former Ravens Super Bowl champion James Ihedigbo and Detroit’s returning safety Glover Quin. Behind Quin and Ihedigbo is reliable veteran Don Carey and recent signing Isa Abdul-Quddus.
