No. 25 Spartans Travel to Blacksburg to Continue Big Ten/ACC Challenge

Michigan State continues the Big Ten/ACC Challenge with a trip to Blacksburg, Va., for the first time in program history, to play the 6-2 Hokies. This will be the fourth meeting between the two programs.

Tar Heels Topple Michigan State

Michigan State suffered its first loss of the 2013-14 season Wednesday night at the hands of the North Carolina Tar Heels 79-65.

The Spartans were dominated from the start getting out rebounded once again, this time 49-38.

Scouting Report: North Carolina Tar Heels

In what could be the biggest challenge of the season since Kentucky, the North Carolina Tar Heels come to the Breslin Center on Wednesday as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The two teams will meet for the fifth time in 15 years.

Spartans Will Travel to Kentucky for NCAA Tournamanent

Michigan State Volleyball did not receive a top-16 seed for the NCAA tournament on the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Selection Show, but did receive an at-large bid.

This is the Spartans’ third consecutive at-large tournament bid as they will take on Ohio in Lexington, Ky.

The Spartans finished their season 21-11 overall with a 10-10 Big Ten record after beating Michigan 3-0 in Ann Arbor on Wednesday, and losing to Purdue in a five set battle. Read More…

MSU Drops to IPFW

The Spartans opened up December at home playing the IPFW Mastodons. MSU entered Sunday afternoon’s game with a five-game winning streak as well. But in the end, IPFW gave the Spartans a great fight and were ready to break the winning streak, as the Spartans lost 81-76.

Defense Makes Big Plays as MSU Finishes Perfect

Michigan State made the big plays when they needed them the most, holding on to beat Minnesota 14-3 to improve their record to 11-1 on the season, and a perfect 8-0 in Big Ten play.

The Spartans forced three turnovers on the day, including a fumble recovery on their 14-yard line in the fourth quarter, to hold the Gophers’ offense to only three points on the day. Read More…

Defense Leads to Offense as Spartans Down Princeton

Spartan Hockey defeated the Princeton Tigers Friday night in a 4-1 rout.

In what coach Tom Anastos called perhaps the most physical game his team has played in thus far, the Spartans  prevailed, with two key players scoring their first goals of the year.  Left wing Ryan Keller potted his first on a backhand pass from captain Greg Wolfe at 17:30 in the second, and a point shot by defenseman Jake Chelios found the back of the net at 4:26 of the third period.
