In what could be the biggest challenge of the season since Kentucky, the North Carolina Tar Heels come to the Breslin Center on Wednesday as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The two teams will meet for the fifth time in 15 years.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – On Sunday, the Spartans will take the pitch against a Georgetown University team who is looking to get back to the Men’s College Cup final, after losing to Indiana University in 2012.
Spartan Hockey defeated the Princeton Tigers Friday night in a 4-1 rout.
In what coach Tom Anastos called perhaps the most physical game his team has played in thus far, the Spartans prevailed, with two key players scoring their first goals of the year. Left wing Ryan Keller potted his first on a backhand pass from captain Greg Wolfe at 17:30 in the second, and a point shot by defenseman Jake Chelios found the back of the net at 4:26 of the third period.
Michigan State’s starting lineup looked different Friday afternoon but the outcome was familiar, as the Spartans beat Mount St. Mary’s University 98-65 without Gary Harris, due to an ankle injury.
Michigan State cornerback Darqueze Dennard has had a great season thus far, leading the Spartans’ top-ranked defense in interceptions (4), pass break-ups (7), and passes defended (11).

Michigan State’s dodgeball team hosted a six-team tournament at I.M. West last Sunday and took home the title with wins over Bowling Green, Ohio State and Siena Heights. It was a huge win for the Spartans, who had a slow start to the 2013-14 season, coming into the tournament with an 0-5 record.
