Secret Society – #13 – 5/14/14

Breaking golf clubs and quitting jobs were just two of many items of discussion on this week’s Secret Society. Charlie Inman and Kyle Sawyer of Michigan State club golf joined host Bradley Allen to talk about building the club team from the ground up just two years ago.

MSU men’s club golf finished 10th at Nationals in New Jersey recently after winning Regionals.

Lacrosse Fights Pittsburgh for Number Two Seed in Conference Tournament

The No. 8 Michigan State lacrosse team has a chance to take second place in their division with a win over Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Michigan State currently sits second in the CCLA with a 4-1 division record, 10-3 overall. Pittsburgh (6-6, 3-2) is close behind at third in the division.

Lacrosse Looks to Bounce Back against Minnesota

After a seven-game winning streak was snapped with a loss to No. 19 Davenport, No. 8 Michigan State will try to regroup as they take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers Saturday.

Minnesota (8-4, 4-1) plays in the Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference, where they are currently in second place.  They have won six of their last seven games, with the only loss coming to Minnesota-Duluth, whom MSU beat 9-5 earlier this season.

Coxswain – #2 – 4/17/14

On the second episode of Coxswain, host Nathaniel Gaynor fittingly recaps the MSU women’s rowing double dual in Belleville, Mich.

Men’s crew club picked up a race on April 5 at the Cincinnati Regatta after their home race, the Lansing State Cup, was cancelled. They finally begin their originally scheduled season in Spring Lake, Mich. and Nathaniel has the recap of the event.

Lacrosse Falls to Division Foe Davenport in Overtime

The No. 8 Michigan State University men’s lacrosse team dropped a crucial division game to No. 19 Davenport by a score of 9-8 in overtime.

The game was decided with 2:50 left in overtime as Davenport midfielder Nate Adkins set up teammate Chapin White for the winning goal.

Spartans Set to Host Rival Davenport

Ralph Young Field and the No. 4 Michigan State Spartans will play host to rival No. 20 Davenport University in a key men’s lacrosse MCLA conference matchup.

The Spartans (9-2, 4-0) are currently a game ahead of the Panthers (6-3, 3-0) in the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association Standings.

Rowing Club Prepares for Lubbers Cup

As the team continues its relentless march, the Michigan State men’s crew club will be preparing to race in the 19th annual Don Lubbers Cup Regatta this weekend on Saturday, April 12. This will be MSU’s sixth race of the season, and third of the spring.

During their last outing in the Cincinnati Regatta, the varsity eight finished second behind Cincinnati by three seconds in the final race.

Secret Society – #8 – 4/9/14

Secret Society is back again for an eighth episode. And this week, Bradley Allen brings MSU dodgeball captains Mike Van Ermen and Colin O’Brien into the studio. Van Ermen and O’Brien share how they got their start in dodgeball and preview the upcoming NCDA Championships this weekend.

Also discussed is the dodgeball world’s love-hate relationship with the 2004 blockbuster movie, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and of course some of Mike, Colin and Bradley’s favorite MSU moments.

Lacrosse tops No. 24 Minnesota-Duluth

The Spartans continued their offensive onslaught Sunday, with the University of Minnesota-Duluth men’s lacrosse team being their most recent victim.

No. 4 Michigan State defeated the No. 24 Bulldogs 9-5 Sunday afternoon, powered by a 5-1 run in the second and third quarters.

“We played all four quarters consistently,” head coach Brandon Schwind said. “Our offense executed and our defense was strong.”

Men’s Lacrosse Takes on Minnesota-Duluth

The MSU men’s lacrosse team will play an out-of-conference game against Minnesota-Duluth of the Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference in East Lansing on Sunday.

The Spartans are on a six-game win streak, while Minnesota-Duluth had its 3-game streak broken by Davenport in a 12-11 loss on Friday.

Crew Club Closes Scheduling Gap by Picking Up the Cincinnati Regatta

After their home race, the State Cup in Lansing, was canceled, MSU Crew Club had a large gap in their schedule between their spring training trip that ended on March 8 and their next race, the Lubbers Cup which starts on April 12.

That has now changed, as the men’s rowing club picked up a race on Saturday, April 5 on Lake Besha in Bethel, Ohio.
