Athlete of the Week – Melissa Novak

Athlete of the Week – Leah O’Connor

Two weeks ago at the Cross Country Big Ten Championship, Michigan State was not only able to claim the team title but also the individual champion, Leah O’Connor, as their own.

O’Connor has a history of success both on the cross country course and the track, and last week was named the Big Ten Cross Country Athlete of the Year. She is also currently the 2014 national champion in steeplechase. Read More…

Athlete of the Week – Aerial Powers

This week’s Athlete of the Week is Aerial Powers, the redshirt sophomore forward for MSU women’s basketball from Detroit, Michigan.

After missing the 2013-2013 season due to injury, Powers came out and dominated last season. Powers won numerous Big Ten accolades as well as posting great numbers in the regular season games. She started all 33 of the games she played in, averaging 13.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Read More…

For this week’s Athlete of the Week, host of The Pact, Anthony Serafino, sits down with DeMarcus Leak, a sophomore on the Michigan State track and field team.

A native of Bangor, Michigan, Leak earned a season-best in the high jump at the SPIRE Invitational last season with a jump of 7.09 meters. Read More…

Athlete of the Week – Ben Miller

This week’s Athlete of the Week is Ben Miller, a fifth-year senior for Michigan State cross country.

Miller graduated in Spring 2014 and is currently working on his MBA at MSU while consistently ranking in the team’s top five. He is the school record holder in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:23.89. Read More…

Athletes of the Week: Jamie Cheslik and Zach Bennett

Freshman forward, Jamie Cheslik has been nothing short of exceptional this year for the Spartans when it comes to scoring goals and showing her perseverance in matches.

Cheslik leads Michigan State with seven goals, which is tied for sixth place in the Big Ten. She also has two game-winning goals for her team this season which have come on the road against Oakland University and California State University, Fullerton. Read More…

Athlete of the Week: Rachele Schulist

This week’s Athlete of the Week is Rachele Schulist, a redshirt sophomore and top cross country runner for Michigan State. Schulist is currently leading the No. 2 ranked Spartan women, who brought home a first place team finish this past weekend at Minnesota’s Roy Griak Invitational.

Schulist has already received the title of USTFCCCA Women’s NCAA Division I National Athlete of the Week and Big Ten Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week this season. Read More…

Athlete of the Week: Eke Ofili

This week’s Athlete of the Week is Eke Ofili. A native of Asaba, Nigeria, Ofili is in his senior year as a Kinesiology major at Michigan State. He has just began his fifth year as a forward for the men’s club soccer team.

Earlier this month, Ofili became the all-time leader in points for MSU Club Soccer with 60 in his career.  He is currently second all-time in goals scored with 24. Ofili won a NIRSA NCCS National Championship with the men’s club soccer team in 2012. Read More…
