Breaking down MSU’s 2015 Commits

With a wide range of offensive and defensive threats arriving on campus this fall, Michigan State football hopes to continue bringing in talent and building its program. With the recent verbal commitment from Noah Listermann, the Spartans are building a solid recruiting class for 2015. Here is a look at who has committed thus far:

* * *

OG Kyonta Stallworth, Detroit Martin Luther King H.S. (Detroit, Mich.)

Back in August, the 6-foot-3-inch, 265-pound guard committed to MSU after receiving scholarship offers from Florida, Alabama and others. Stallworth visited East Lansing twice in April, including the spring game.

QB Brian Lewerke, Pinnacle H.S. (Phoenix, Ariz.)

Lewarke is the second quarterback to commit to MSU in the 2015 class. At 6-foot-3-inch, 180 pounds, he is a pro-style quarterback with hopes of obtaining the starting job as an upperclassman. If he signs and ends up with the Spartans in the fall of 2015, he will be competing with redshirt sophomore Damien Terry and possibly others for the starting position.

CB Tyson Smith, St. Mary’s H.S. (West Bloomfield, Mich.)

This 5-foot-11-inch, 175-pound defensive back recently received defensive back MVP honors at the Columbus Nike Football Training Camp. The Spartans landing Smith is paramount for MSU continuing continuing their reputation of having a stellar defensive backfield. Add Smith to your ‘No Fly Zone’ players to watch list.

QB Jayru Campbell, Cass Technical H.S. (Detroit, Mich.)

Not a lot of good news to update on Campbell, the 6-foot-3-inch dual-threat quarterback commit out of Detroit. Needless to say, his highlight film is probably the second most watched video of his on the internet (maybe even the third). As of now, he still has an offer from Michigan State. Last week Campbell was sentenced to 60 days in jail for the bodyguard incident that occurred at his high school in January. If he can stay out of trouble, Campbell can still be a successful college quarterback. Do not let the Lewerke commit lead you to believe that there is no future for Campbell at MSU — head coach Mark Dantonio has dealt with off-the-field issues with players before and still helped them grow into successful student-athletes.

OT Noah Listermann, Winton Woods H.S. (Cincinnati, Ohio)

The most recent 2015 commit for the Spartans is a 6-foot-7-inch, 293-pound offensive lineman. Listermann visited Michigan State back on May 31 and announced his verbal commitment the following day.
