Women’s Basketball Cruises on the Road Over Loyola

The Spartans dominated with a 90-38 road win over the Loyola Ramblers Sunday evening.

The Spartans opened a big lead early in the first half and the Ramblers could not stop the Spartan drive. With less than five minutes left in the first half the Spartans had already managed a 37-11 lead.

Becca Mills led the team with 22 points followed by Tori Jankoska and Lexi Gussert each with 15. Aerial Powers had 14 points, 14 rebounds and five assists.  This is Powers’ seventh double-double of the season. Jasmine Lumpkin also followed behind with nine points and a career-high of 11 rebounds.

The Spartans’ 90 points this game was their season-high. Their largest lead of the game was 52 points, which is also the largest lead of this season.

The No. 19/21 Spartans had a record-breaking night Sunday and will return home to play Alcorn State at 7 p.m.
