Spartans Dominate Eagles, Win Convincingly

After an explosive offensive performance in the first half, Michigan State held on to their large lead, winning 73-14 against Eastern Michigan. The Spartan defense forced five turnovers while the offense ended up with 496 yards of total offense.

Nick Hill rushed in for a touchdown extending the Spartan lead to 56-0 early in the second half.  EMU responded with some points of their own.

After being completely shut down for only one yard of offense in the first half, Eastern was able to slightly turn things around. Quarterback Rob Bolden threw for two touchdown passes, one to Lansing native Tyler Allen early in the third quarter, and another to Tyreese Russell early in the 4th quarter.

After Spartan quarterback Connor Cook scored three early touchdowns (one rushing, two passing) in the first quarter, he was replaced by Tyler O’Connor and Damion Terry, who split time under center for the remainder of the game.  Kicker Michael Geiger hit a 30-yard field goal in the third quarter and Delton Williams added two of his three rushing touchdowns in the fourth.  Williams’ last touchdown was an 80-yard run, and finished the game with 103 yards on ten carries.
