Spartans Will Play Outdoor Game in Chicago

Hold on to your earmuffs, Michigan State will play Michigan at Soldier Field in Chicago as part of the Coyote Logistics Hockey City Classic.

The matchup, which was recently announced by Intersport, will take place Saturday, February 7 and will count toward the regular season standings.

Also included will be a matchup between Western Michigan and Miami (Ohio).

Over 52,000 fans braved the cold to watch Notre Dame, Miami (Ohio), Minnesota and Wisconsin inthe Hockey City Classic two years ago in Chicago. This year, the attendance is expected to meet or even surpass the 52,000 mark.

It is also worth noting that Michigan State boasts the second largest alumni base in Chicago (behind University of Illinois). So while it might not be Munn Ice Arena or even Spartan Stadium, it should still feel like a home game for the Green and White.

Michigan State is 1-1-1 when facing Michigan in outdoor games.
