Wildcats Send Spartans Packing

The Michigan State men’s tennis team is on a two-game Big Ten losing streak after losing to No. 37 Northwestern, 6-1 Sunday afternoon.

The Wildcats took two of the three doubles matches against the No. 73 Spartans (8-12, 2-5). Gijs Linders/Harry Jadun defeated Northwestern’s Sam Shropshire/Konrad Zieba, giving Michigan State the win on court two.

In singles competition, Northwestern won five of the six matches. Drew Lied defeated No. 37 Raleigh Smith 7-6(5), 6-4 for the lone Spartan win.

Michigan State put up a fight. John Patrick Mullane, Brett Forman and Jadun all went down to the wire in their matches.

The Spartans were again without senior co-captain Aaron Pfister, who went down with an injury last week in practice.

Michigan State will try and get the taste of defeat out of their mouths on Friday when they head to Wisconsin. The game will be the third road game in the four game Spartan road trip.
