The above headlines might have Dolphins fans scratching their heads. Why are the Dolphins scraping up the Detroit Lions’ throwaways?

Miami lost their starting safety Chris Clemons this offseason to free agency and instantly replaced him with Louis Delmas. Arguably, Delmas may have been one of the better safeties on the board this offseason after being cut by the Lions. However, essentially they just replaced an average safety in Clemons with an average safety in Delmas. Unless Delmas begins to perform at a higher standard in South Beach.

The infamous Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin bullying scandal has created a bit of a hole in the Dolphins’ offensive line. This is why the Lions’ ex-offensive lineman Jason Fox was signed. Fox could be a starter in Miami, but the worst case scenario is that he is a reliable backup veteran.

Now the Dolphins are checking out Detroit’s beloved Nate Burleson who they released earlier this year. We all know Burleson’s potential and what he can contribute to the offense, but unfortunately Burleson could not come through for the Lions last season after his pizza incident.

Well Miami, more power to you. Teams have needs, and I guess the Lions’ offseason losses were tailored to Miami’s needs.
