Coming off of a 0-3 Big Ten start, Michigan State’s softball team looks for a comeback in their series against Purdue this weekend.
The three games will be played in West Lafayette, Ind. at the Boilermaker Softball Complex.
The weekend will be a reunion of sorts for Michigan State women’s rowing coach Matt Weise, and also for a former Spartan assistant coach and former rower. This time, however, Weise and the Spartan alumni will be operating on opposing teams.
Michigan State women’s rowing will travel east to New Brunswick, N.J. Friday for a race against Boston University and Rutgers University. Though Rutgers will join the Big Ten Conference next season, they will be competing as a member of the American Athletic Conference this season.

Tom Anastos, head coach of the Michigan State men’s hockey team, addressed the media for one last time Tuesday. In his third season behind the bench, Anastos and his Spartans recorded an 11-18-7 overall record and went 5-9-6-4 in conference play.
Anastos’ opening statement recapped his team’s play in the Big Ten Tournament, and said that, “from a performance standpoint, we were obviously disappointed.”

The Spartans fell to the Tar Heels 62-53 and will not be advancing in the tournament. MSU head coach Suzy Merchant said how difficult this game was compared to others.

Former Ravens safety James Ihedigbo will be reunited with his old defensive coordinator Teryl Austin this offseason after his deal with the Detroit Lions is finalized.
The free agent safety Ihedigbo tweeted Monday night that he is officially becoming a Lion.

For Michigan State’s heavyweight, Mike McClure, his last season for MSU went out on a highlight. McClure finished the NCAA Championship with a fifth place finish and secured All-American honors over the weekend. McClure is the first Spartan All-American heavyweight since Don Whipp in 1993.
