MSU Hockey: Final Press Conference

Tom Anastos, head coach of the Michigan State men’s hockey team, addressed the media for one last time Tuesday. In his third season behind the bench, Anastos and his Spartans recorded an 11-18-7 overall record and went 5-9-6-4 in conference play.

Anastos’ opening statement recapped his team’s play in the Big Ten Tournament, and said that, “from a performance standpoint, we were obviously disappointed.”

Looking ahead to next season, Anastos has to fill the holes of five seniors who are graduating in May: Greg Wolfe, Lee Reimer, Nickolas Gatt, and Jake and Dean Chelios.

Losing Wolfe, his captain, Anastos hopes to have his new captains in place by the time the team separates near the end of the academic semester.

When talking about areas of improvement, scoring once again, is the biggest area of focus going into next season.

Anastos also touched on the freshman class and stressed how it is crucial for his players to have a strong offseason.
