Andre’s All-Star Resume

The NBA All-Star Game is less then a month away.  On February 16, the best players in the league will take their talents to New Orleans, La., to showcase them. The last Piston to play in the all-star game was Allen Iverson in 2009. Is this the year that drought ends?  Andre Drummond sure hopes so.

Drummond has been Detroit’s best player this season and is one of the best up-and-coming big men in the league.  This season, Drummond is averaging 12.7 points per game, 12.6 rebounds per game and almost two blocks per game.

Among all centers in the NBA, Drummond ranks 10th in points per game, second in rebounds per game, third in field goal percentage, second in steals per game, fourth in blocks per game, and first in double-doubles.

Not only are his numbers this year impressive, but the improvements he has made from last season are unbelievable.  With head coach Maurice Cheeks increasing his minutes per game by around 12, Drummond has capitalized by producing five more points and rebounds per game.

Unfortunately for Drummond, he will have to be chosen to represent the Eastern Conference by this year’s head coach Frank Vogel, the current head coach of the Indiana Pacers. Drummond is currently in 13th place in fan voting in the Eastern Conference and in eighth place for frontcourt players in the conference.

There is no doubt that Drummond will be performing in several all-star games during the course of his career and maybe even a few dunk contests. He has all the talent in the world to compete with today’s best players, but only time will tell if the Pistons’ Central Division rival’s head coach will choose him as an alternate in the upcoming spectacle.
