Battle of the Bigs: Detroit Pistons vs Indiana Pacers

The Detroit Pistons had their toughest test to date of the 2013 season on Tuesday night when they matched up against the undefeated, division rival Indiana Pacers in Auburn Hills, MI.  Indiana has been one of the most consistent teams in the NBA the last few years, coming off a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals last season where they lost to the Miami Heat in seven games. Spartans Finish Exhibition Season Strong

Michigan State won their final exhibition game of the season, 83-45, against Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Monday.

Gary Harris led all scorers with 21 points. Keith Appling scored only three points in the game, but contributed 11 assists with no turnovers.

MSU shot lights out from behind the arc, finishing the game with almost 47 percent shooting from three-point range. Despite the score, Tom Izzo was displeased with the team’s ability to finish. Read More…

Opinion: Branden Dawson is the Spartans’ X-Factor

Branden Dawson’s freshmen season ended during the final regular season game of the year versus Ohio State, when he tore his left anterior cruciate ligament. That injury changed the trajectory of Dawson’s career. Instead of spending the summer of his sophomore year developing his game or possibly preparing for his rookie season in the NBA, he was forced to rehab his knee.

Unpleasing Second-Straight Win

MSU Hockey and head coach Tom Anastos had one mission in mind going into Halloween weekend.

 “Win tonight, win Sunday, and hopefully that will satisfy their Halloween desires,” said Anastos of his team.
