Good Wins, Tough Losses

The Spartan Spitfires Quidditch team returned to East Lansing after their first tournament away from home this year. After a succesful outing in Ohio Saturday, head coach Ian Hoopingarner and the Spitfires continued their intramural play at Munn Field on Sunday. The North Nords rolled in a dominating performance against the Hip-Hoppagriffs, 140*-40.MSU sent 21 members of the Quidditch team to represent the Spitfires in a tournament at Ohio Dominican University last Saturday.  After suffering their first loss in pool play to Bowling Green, they came into bracket play with the fourth seed.  The Spitfires did pick up a win against The Charles School and beat Miami (Ohio) twice, once in pool play and in the first round of bracket play.  The tournament ended for MSU after a loss to Ohio State in the semi-finals. Coach Hoopingarner was pleased with the team’s performance in Columbus.

“Overall it was a good tournament, I was really proud of the way we played and I am excited for the next one,” Hoopingarner said.

The next tournament will be the first hosted by Central Michigan Saturday October 5th.

“It will be good to see how we improve from last tournament for this tournament.  We are hoping to have more depth at the chaser position because we got kind of exhausted at our last tournament,” said Hoopingarner.
