Baths – Miasma Sky

Will Wiesenfeld, better known by his stage name Baths, is an artist from 2007 who has been taking the music scene by storm. If you haven’t heard of this experimental electronic artist, you are really missing out. Since 2007, Baths has released 3 studio albums as well as performed at many venues. I had my first experience with Baths live at the Magic Stick earlier this year. Not only does this guy focus on being the best performer he can be, but he lights up the crowd with his personality and light-hearted jokes. Recently he has just released the Ocean Death EP, which brings together his electronic beats along with his interesting high-pitched twisted voice. Even if he hasn’t impacted your airwaves yet, you should give him a try. One of his highly sought after tracks is called Miasma Sky.

Interpol – All The Rage Back Home

For the first time since 2010 we’ve gotten a new track from New York post-punkish indie rock band, Interpol. I was really in love the sounds of their debut “Turn on the Bright Lights” (let’s be real, who wasn’t) but haven’t really given the rest of their discography much of a chance. This new single seems to be going back more to their TOTBL sound, with a little more focus on pop appeal. Either way, if you’ve missed Interpol, or haven’t heard of them, this new track is pretty good and is totally worth a shot.

Wild Beasts – Mecca (Sohn Remix)

Wild Beasts released their latest album Present Tense back in February (available here). The band has coordinated remixes of their single “Mecca” from British producer SOHN and Detroit producer Juan Atkins. SOHN’s version of “Mecca” strategically places echoes of electronic elements between the perfectly-paired airy vocals of Wild Beasts’ Hayden Thorpe.

Wild Beasts will be performing at Pitchfork Music Festival on Saturday, July 19th. Tune in to our Top 5 at 5 Wednesday, July 16 for your chance to win a pair of tickets (did we mention it’s sold out?????)
