Deerhunter – Back to the Middle

Bradford Cox is Deerhunter, one of Atlanta, Georgia’s premier indie rock/electronic group. A pleasant mix of experimental indie pop and noise rock, the band fits in somewhere in between Tame Impala and Spoon. Though their sound has changed with each album, it’s never once taken a step back. Also, Cox tends to wear a traditional dress on stage (it’s pretty strange). The new album Monomania comes out in May, but a few songs have managed to make their way out into the internet. Check out their song “Back to the Middle” off Monomania below. Read More…

DZ Deathrays – Gebbie Street

Of course there’s great, new music coming out of Australia (when is there not?). Brisbane’s DZ Deathrays introduce a new take on music few have experimented with before. The Sleigh Bells of indie pop, DZ Deathrays has come to be called “thrash pop” and have shown us that the bright and bubbly indie pop we know and love can indeed be complemented with elements of hardcore and thrash punk. It’s a big sound for a two-piece. It may sound a bit odd, but give it a try and learn to fall in love. Check out their song “Gebbie Street” below. Read More…
