Throwback Thursday — Plug In Baby | Muse

Throwback+Thursday+%E2%80%94+Plug+In+Baby+%7C+Muse

Muse has been on the cutting edge of rock since their formation in 1994. The two-time grammy winning trio, consisting of Matthew Bellamy (lead vocals/guitar), Chris Wolstenholme (bass) and Dominic Howard (drums), made their mark with fuzzy lead guitar riffs, synth experimentation, over-the-top live performances, and Bellamy’s remarkable vocal range. Muse has seven studio albums to their name with another rumored to release sometime in 2018. You will always find die-hard Muse fans, like myself, going on about how much their sound has changed and how they want “the old” Muse back, but we should praise them for their continued diversity and creativity. Songs like “Madness”, “Uprising”, and “Dig Down” may be the songs you hear on U.S. pop radio, but Muse’s discography goes much deeper than their biggest hits.

“Plug In Baby” is the lead single from the band’s second studio album, Origin of Symmetry. This album released in 2001 around the world, but the CD’s didn’t hit the shelves in the U.S. until 2005 as Warner was skeptical of Bellamy’s falsettos. Nonetheless, this track and the rest of the album will go down as one of Muse’s best works to casual and hardcore fans alike. This track showcases Muse’s roots in guitar led, dark, rock music. Whether you’re a die-hard Muse fan, only familiar with their pop hits, or just a casual listener, it’s easy to find yourself head banging to this Muse classic.

Take a look at Muse’s live performance of “Plug In Baby” at the Rome Olympic Stadium to see just how virtuosic Bellamy and company can be when they’re performing in front of thousands of their fans.
