Jeff Pianki’s “Paper Window” Revisited

Now make no mistake, as a junior in college, I have the hometown visit down to a science. I have my personal rituals when I return to my home in Sterling Heights; I see particular people, I eat at particular restaurants, I drive down particular roads to particular places.

My Latest Novel – Sneaker Sister Sneaker Soul

From the outskirts of Glasgow, Scotland come My Latest Novel, a four-piece hell-bent on tearing down the walls of folk and indie rock. With a melange of instruments in every song including violins, xylophones, and the use of samples, their music is constantly shifting from theme to theme. The band name seems incredibly fitting, as each song changes within itself, establishing a story line and vascillating moods as a good story does. Each album seems to be a new novel of sorts. With only two albums under their belt, My Lates Novel has tons of room to grow and can be expected to do so. Check out their song “Sneaker Sister Sneaker Soul” off their 2006 release Wolves below Read More…

Little Comets – One Night In October

British rockers Little Comets provide the energy of pop-punk with the warm, fuzzy feeling of indie rock, allowing for an attitude of relaxing excitement throughout both their albums. Recently signed to Columbia Records, they’ve been able to tour in support of Hockey among others and appearing in a British television advertisement. A band still in its infancy, be sure to keep your eye out for Little Comets. We think they’ll be hitting it big pretty soon. Check out their song “One Night In October” off their 2011 release In Search of Elusive Comets below. Read More…

Generationals – When They Fight, They Fight

New Orleans indie rock duo Generationals perfectly mix elements of 60’s flower power with the indie rock of the early 2000’s. The band gained a decent amount of notoreity after being featured in two commercials including one for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and one for Bloomingdale’s. You can hear a track of theirs as the opening song for the 2010 film Going The Distance as well. With two albums and an EP under their belt, Generationals show no sign of stopping their onslaught of happy, guitar driven indie rock. Check out the song “When They Fight, They Fight” off their 2009 debut album Con Law below. Read More…
