A Great Big Pile of Leaves – Pet Mouse

Brooklyn’s A Great Big Pile of Leaves are back with their second full-length album You’re Always On My Mind. Though not as catchy as their previous efforts, the new album continues to showcase the band’s creative guitar work, intricate drum lines, and nostalgic lyrics that we love so much. AGBPOL continue with the “one high, one low” style of vocals, but seem to have perfected the art of when and for how long. If you like upbeat, happy rock songs with a little bit of style and originality to them, then AGBPOL is just for you. Check out the single “Pet Mouse” off their new album You’re Always On My Mind below, and then go check out their back catalog. Read More…

Jamaican Queens – Kids Get Away

Michigan’s own Jamaican Queens could be one of the biggest things to come out of Detroit since Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Jr. With a unique mix of indie and electronic elements, JQ comes across as a blending of Hot Chip and dubstep. Their music is a pretty good representation of just how weird these fellas are, and if you’re really interested, check out the website (it’ll throw you for a loop). With their self-titled album being the first release in what will hopefully be a long career, the band has nowhere to go but up. Check out the video for the track “Kids Get Away” from their self-titled album below. Read More…

Hidden In Plain View – Garden Statement

The now defunct pop-punk/screamo band Hidden In Plain View were one of New Jersey’s biggest pride and joys. The instability of the band caused them to release three EPs and one full-length, all on different labels, and eventually led to their split in 2007. It was the clean and consistent harder edge to their pop-punk style that set them apart from most. With dual vocals and a great rhythm section, they had what it takes to make it big. Check out the track “Garden Statement” off their 2005 album Life In Dreaming below (sorry for the lame video). Read More…

Ludo – Love Me Dead

Oh sweet, sweet youth. Remember this song? St. Louis’ Ludo had our hearts rocking and angst raging with this track released in 2008. If you’re crossed or heart broken, just sit back and let Ludo do your thinking for you. Not to mention a very entertaining accompanying music video. Listen to the track below, and be sure to check out their latest 2010 release Prepare the Preparations. Read More…
