The gypsy-folk punk band maintain their sound while slowing things down a bit and taking another look at song structure. Grouper is Liz Harris, Portland, Oregon-based multi-instrumentalist and experimental folk artist with a penchant for echoes and ambience. The big, roomy, nearly atmospheric brand of folk is reminiscent of newer Bon Iver and Deerhunter. With eight albums in as many years, Liz Harris is one of the most consistent artists out right now. Plus, with widely recognized support from acts such as Animal Collective and Xiu Xiu, it’s going to be hard not to garner some attention.
