We pay tribute to Nelson Mandela by speaking with Michigan State University history professor Peter Alegi about the man who influenced the history and political culture of South Africa. Communication Lead of Get Covered America Shawn Dhanak comes to the studio to discuss enrolling in healthcare. We also explore the history of the Beal Botanical Garden on MSU’s campus by chatting with the curator of the gardens, Frank Telewski. Impact’s Alsha Claussen uncovers thoughts and ideas about religion on a college campus. Host Abbie Newton ends the show discussing a unique journaling project that turned into a tool for honest communication and emotion.

Tonight on Exposure, regular host Abbie Newton returns from a two and a half week trip to Peru where she ran 150 miles with the non-profit group Impossible2Possible. We feature a conversation with her and Producer Gabriela Saldivia about life now looking back on the trip. We also hear from professor Alan Arbogast about Geography Awareness Week and an event tomorrow night at the Wharton Center’s Pasant Theatre. Lastly, Impact reporter Quin Hoffman explores the popularity of soccer in the United States.

Broad Art Museum celebrates new Hope Gangloff exhibit with lecture, concert

The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum celebrated the first full week of school with a new art exhibit and an outdoor concert on Friday, Sept. 6. New York artist Hope Gangloff came to East Lansing for the opening of her contemporary art exhibit at the museum. Community members enjoyed conversations with Gangloff as Wayne Szalinski and The People’s Temple performed in the courtyard.
