DJ Spotlight of the Week | DJ Hot Donna

DJ+Spotlight+of+the+Week+%7C+DJ+Hot+Donna

With the semester coming to a close, it’s time to celebrate the last DJ Spotlight of the year – featuring DJ Hot Donna! Also known as Zoe, one of our Air Staff Coaches, DJ Hot Donna studies graphic design and jams to Mac Demarco during the day, and djs during the night – more specifically every Friday from 4PM-6PM.

1. What made you decide to join Impact and become a DJ?

I’ve listened to the Impact for years and wanted to experience the opportunities the station has to offer during my time here at MSU. It was also a chance to meet people and make connections with others from all walks of life, that share similar interests and bring new elements to the table.

2. What has been your best on air experience?

The best experiences on air is every time a fellow DJ comes in for my shift to share the mic and have brief discussions on music, school, life whatever it may be.

3. How do you think working in radio will affect your future career and life experience?

There is so much more to the Impact than just DJing or what we “see” (hear?). There’s a lot of work put in to the station behind closed doors and it has allowed me develop skills on collaborative work. Its also inspiring how hard working the team is and has helped me grow to be more confident in what I do and the decisions I make!

4. What is your favorite part of the station?

My favorite part of the station is how refreshing it is to have the support of the fellow members. Its a really close knit group of people and I feel as if I have developed great friendships along the way.

5. If you could play an artist non-stop on the air, which would it be?

Ooooh, that’s a tough one. Definitely Mac DeMarco. Probably HOMESHAKE or even The Smiths.

6. What is the best concert experience you have had? Why?

There’s so many to choose from! I think seeing Flume perform back in 2014 was almost a religious experience. It was at a festival and I think everyone was just on the same page and vibing together.

Our next DJ Spotlight will be posted next semester!
