DJ+Spotlight+%7C+Amber+Kienutske

After St. Patricks, we’ve got something as great as a pot of gold, our DJs! Meet Amber Kienutske a phenomenal DJ and a Media and Information student! If you’re lucky you can catch Amber on Wednesdays 4pm- 6pm playing her favorites Brockhampton, A Day to Remember and so much more!

1. What made you decide to join Impact and become a DJ?

I used to listen to the Impact in high school and would think about how cool it would be to join. Once I got to MSU and saw how easy it was to get involved, I knew had to do it.

2. What has been your best on air experience?

My best on air experience would probably be my first live shift. I had told the listeners that it was my first time, and I got a lot of encouraging calls. Overall it was just really exciting for me.

3. How do you think working in radio will affect your future career and life?

Working in radio has already affected my career path. Seeing everything that takes place around the station, sparked an interest for me in Public Relations, which I’m now minoring in. I’ve also gained more respect for music and the broadcast industry, and that’s something that I’ll always have now.

4. Who would be your dream co-host?

Probably any member from Brockhampton or maybe Obama.

5. If you could play an artist non-stop on the air, which would it be?

Tame Impala. Just because I’m never NOT in the mood to listen to them and I feel like that’s a universal thing.

6. What is the best concert experience you have had? Why?

That’s a hard one. I think I have to say my first time seeing A Day to Remember, just because I had been listening to them since elementary school and it was unreal to finally hear them live. That’s probably tied with seeing Tyler the Creator at MoPop last summer. It was like a week or two after he had released the Flower Boy album and you could just tell that he genuinely was in love with the music he had just put out and was shocked that the crowd knew all the songs already.
