Krause and Van Poppelen lead women’s soccer to victory

The Michigan State women’s soccer team improved to 2-0 after earning a 5-2 victory over Milwaukee, September 1, in East Lansing.

The MSU offense was led by sophomore forwards Rachel Van Poppelen and Allyson Krause. Van Poppelen gave the Spartans an early lead in the ninth minute when she scored the game’s first goal off a ball served from junior Lisa Vogel.

Michigan State beats Western Michigan, questions still remain

The Michigan State Spartans still have concerns at quarterback after some shaky performances in a 26-13 victory over Western Michigan on Friday night.

Andrew Maxwell started the game hot, completing his first five passing attempts on the Spartans first drive of the game.  However, the drive stalled in Broncos’ territory, and the following two drives for Maxwell and the Spartan offense ended quickly.
