Craft Spells’ Dream Pop Floods The Blind Pig | Concert Review

Craft+Spells+Dream+Pop+Floods+The+Blind+Pig+%7C+Concert+Review

I had the great pleasure of seeing Craft Spells, a dream-pop band not dissimilar from Youth Lagoon or Beach Fossils, on March 18th at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, and I am so glad I did. For $12, we were able to participate in what was essentially a 2 hour long dance party.

Craft Spells played a nice mix of all of their albums- if you haven’t checked them out, you really should! The Blind Pig was the perfect venue for this concert- small enough that we could all be pretty close to the stage, yet large enough that we had our own space. Every person in the audience was dancing and smiling for the entirety of the concert to the warm, happy music. The band is composed of wonderfully talented musicians, and each song played seemed to have been rehearsed thousands of times.

The one complaint I have about the entire evening is this: We had a small mishap with our tickets, and the staff in the bar of the Blind Pig were truly the rudest, loudest, most abrasive staff I have ever encountered in any establishment, which is disappointing because the venue is so impressive otherwise. Aside from that, I would love to see Craft Spells again, and would highly recommend them to anyone who has a chance to see them!
