New Director of Hockey Operations Announced

EAST LANSING – Michigan State head coach Tom Anastos announced Monday that former Spartan captain Brad Fast will be named the new Director of Hockey Operations at Michigan State. Fast will replace Phil Osaer, who has accepted a new position with USA Hockey.

“We’re extremely excited to have Brad Fast as a part of our program,” Anastos said in a press release Monday. “As an All-American and Academic All-American at Michigan State, Brad set a high standard of excellence that he has carried throughout his professional career.”

Fast played for the Spartans from 1999-2003 where he gathered an impressive 114 points in 164 games. After his time as a Spartan, Fast was drafted in the third round by the Carolina Hurricanes and began playing for the team’s AHL affiliate, the Lowell Lock Monsters.

“I am very excited and feel very fortunate to again be a part of the Michigan State University hockey program and am looking forward to working with Coach Anastos, Coach Newton and Coach Miller,” Fast said in a statement Monday. “I cherished my days here as a player, and I’m excited to be back at Munn to help the Spartans compete for championships.”

Fast, who is originally from Fort St. John’s, British Columbia, graduated from MSU in 2003 and currently lives with his wife, Lindsay, and their three children in East Lansing.
