After clinching the Big Ten Championship Title last year from the Michigan Wolverines in overtime, the Michigan State University Men’s Soccer team is anxious to begin their 2013 season.

With eight seniors returning, head coach Damon Rensing is looking forward to the challenging schedule this fall.

“We are extremely excited about our 2013 schedule…we played one of the toughest schedules in the country last year,” Rensing told “This year will be no different.”

Midfielder Sean Conerty and goalkeeper Zach Bennett had successful freshman seasons and are looking to continue as sophomores. Last season, Conerty scored the winning goal in the 2012 Big Ten Championship Game against the Wolverines, and Bennett recorded a high save percentage.

“We are hoping to provide all of our fans an entertaining game at DeMartin Stadium. I think everyone in our program is really excited to get our season underway,” added Rensing.
