EAST LANSING—Michigan State Women’s Basketball is keeping the ball rolling, snagging two new players for their 2014-15 roster—Lexi Gussert and Jasmine Lumpkin.

Gussert is from Forest Park High School in Northern Michigan. She pushed aside Tennessee, Connecticut, Illinois and Marquette when committing on July 18th.

She was Michigan’s Class D Player of the Year for the 2012 season. She averaged 32.5 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four blocks this past season, and is fifth all-time in state history for most single-season points, with a whopping 809.

The six-foot guard is a triple threat of passing, shooting and court sense; something the Spartans lacked in past seasons.

Lumpkin, who had almost 25 scholarship offers to choose from, committed in May as the first recruit in the 2014 class. The 5’11 wing plays several positions for Joliet Catholic Academy, and averaged 19 points and 13 rebounds last season.

The two additions could be missing pieces to another Big Ten Championship in 2014.
