Name: Mitch Callahan
Number: No. 57

Position: Right wing
Shot: Right
Age: 23
Draft: (2009) sixth round, No. 180 overall

Mitch Callahan is a United States hockey player native of Whittier, Calif., born on August 17, 1991. The right-handed, right-winger was drafted in 2009 in the sixth round, No. 180 overall. Before and after the draft, Callahan played for the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL from 2008-2011.

After his best season in the WHL, playing in 62 games and collecting 54 points, Callahan made his move towards the AHL.

For the Grand Rapids Griffins, the forward had 29 points over two seasons and 119 games played. Although his statistics are not a point of interest for most, Callahan has been known for his gritty style of play and willingness to go to the front of the net.

Callahan has one NHL game under his belt for the Detroit Red Wings. In 2014-2015, if injuries begin to pile up, Callahan will be given an opportunity to make an impact on the fourth line for the Red Wings.

This past summer, the 23-year old signed a one-year, $555,000 contract with the Red Wings going into the 2014-2015 season.
