Spartan Wrestlers Finish off Dual Season against No. 24 Chippewas

Riding a two-dual win streak, Michigan State’s wrestling team looks to finish their dual season on a high note against the No. 24 Central Michigan Chippewas.

The Spartans (7-10) are coming off a 40-0 shutout over Olivet College last Friday on the team’s senior day at Jenison Field House. MSU stacked up the style points in the Olivet dual with two falls and four major decisions, including four victories for all the Spartan seniors, two of which were pins.

Michigan State finished the Big Ten dual season with an 18-16 last match comeback victory at Indiana on Feb. 9.

CMU (10-9) went 2-2 at last week’s NWCA National Duals in Columbus, Ohio with wins over Illinois and Iowa State and losses to Oklahoma and Virginia Tech.

The Chippewas went 4-4 against MAC opponents and are currently tied for fifth place in the conference standings.

Following the final dual of the season at Central, the Spartans will have an off week to prepare for the Big Ten Championships, which will be held March 8-9 at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wis.
