Back in July, I had the pleasure of seeing Lewis Del Mar live at Lollapalooza. I had zero clue who they were and what music they played, but they had the support of one of my closest friends, so I figured why not?
After just a short hour performance, I absolutely fell in love.
The heavy acoustic guitar, the personalities of the duo on stage — it was amazing how normal they seemed to be — just a couple guys playing some rad music on stage. Lewis Del Mar definitely stood out to me, and I was super stoked to see what else they had in store. What I found was a blend of music that I honestly couldn’t pinpoint, but the originality of what they were playing enthralled me to listen to say the least.
The Brooklyn natives are a folk-pop duo Danny Miller, guitarist and lead singer, and Max Harwood, drummer and producer. Their hit single, “Loud(y),” took the hype train to maximum speed in January 2016, when their blend of acoustic guitar, Latin American drum beats, and media samples caught the attention of the music industry. This October, the duo is heading on tour making stops across United States and to showcase their first album, X, releasing on Oct. 7th, 2016.
If there is any band in this country that is worth keeping an eye on, it would be Lewis Del Mar. It was apparent at their Lolla performance, and it’s definitely apparent after now. If you can take the time out of your day October 12th and to see them, you will not be disappointed.
