Suzy Merchant will not travel to Illinois after minor car accident

EAST LANSING – The Michigan State women’s basketball head coach Suzy Merchant will miss Sunday’s game at Illinois after being in a minor one-car accident Saturday morning due to a medical incident, according to a press release. 

The press release said Merchant was taken to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing and is currently in stable condition. The cause of the accident is unknown. 

Dean Lockwood will act as the interim head coach while Merchant is away. 

Details on where the accident occurred, the medical incident Merchant went through and when she will return to the team are currently unavailable.
