EAST LANSING— Beginning with the “Meet the Spartans” open practice on Monday, Aug. 23 at Spartan Stadium, Michigan State is requiring that all attendees wear masks when inside any campus building and at any indoor part of Spartan Stadium unless eating or drinking. This includes the concourse, restrooms, elevators, indoor suites and club areas/the press box. Fans are not required to wear masks when sitting in the various outdoor seating sections, but are encouraged to do so.

This mandate, which will remain indefinitely, will be enforced for volleyball games at Jenison Fieldhouse, beginning with Saturday’s Green vs. White scrimmage. Other fall sporting events, including field hockey and men’s and women’s soccer, will not be requiring mask-wearing unless directly inside an indoor portion of the stadium.

The updated mask requirements closely resemble the revised on-campus guidelines that were reinstated on July 30. Currently, all students, parents, staff and faculty members are required to wear masks when inside any campus building; this requirement is expected to last through the first several weeks of the fall semester at a minimum.

Students, faculty and staff members are also mandated to receive at least one dose of either the Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccine by Aug. 31 with limited exceptions.
